Boracay Island Once More

It has been more than two years since my last foray into the famous Boracay Island.  So much has changed since my last visit.  I got a bit sad upon seeing its once all-green landscape from above.  Just right before my plane landed in Caticlan airport. Over-development and incorrect planning were two words which jumped around inside my head.  But then, I was there to unwind with my friend after a three full months of no travel.

Why I Fell in Love with Biking

Dear Readers,

My mom didn't let me outdoors when I was a little kid.  I guess she was more concerned of my safety then.  As the younger child and only girl, I was well taken care of as any daughter should be.

I was an introvert.  I hated talking to people and even disliked adults for noticing me.  I guess Don't-Notice-Me was my middle name. Haha! Paula Don't-Notice-Me O. I am laughing at my own joke now.

Kidding aside, my ever protective mother won't let me go where I am not supposed to be.  Sure, she'd let me have my vacation at my aunt's in Bulacan.  But my sense of adventure ended at their backyard.  Extreme play activities like biking was reserved for the boys like my kuya (older brother). Unfair, I know.

Yes, I Miss You

Do you remember, the first time we met? You were unfamiliar to me as the planet Mars. But just like the sun, the moon smiled at me warmly. And I felt my heart skipped with excitement thinking of the days I could know you better.

Your smile was the sweetest. Your wind's soft gust welcomed me with open arms. Oh how I miss being enveloped in your strength! Your home. I might as well could hide into your chest.
I could only stare at you. In awe. In wonder. You are so beautiful. Your rawness and child-like beauty captured my heart. It tried to escape. My mind wanted to. But my heart was telling me another story.

When you move, the Earth, Wind and Fire stop all at once and bask under your glory. You are the prince in my kingdom. And I shall wait to see you again, to feel you again. To see your eyes shine like the ethereal clouds. And witness your charming smile.

Yes. I miss you.

Agos Boracay: Rooms + Beds

Our second night in the best beach in the world was spent in the nearly two year old Agos Boracay.

This greeted us
Yummy Choc-nut and frozen towels to battle off the summer heat
Though not a beach front hotel, it has its advantages as it is accessible from the main road.  A five minute walk from D'mall and under ten minutes from White Beach, the hotel has a lovely staff which we find all very accommodating.

A nice place to relax

G-Max Boracay: My Mind Said No But My Heart Said Go

I was not familiar with this thrill-a-minute ride until I saw a glimpse of its towers out from the sea after our island-hopping activity.

My friend Marx was the mastermind. I admit, I was curious as how it would feel to be thrown into the skies and hurled down into the earth in a matter of seconds.

We were given the opportunity to try it out and that was a big factor in making this life-changing decision which was as crazy as this stomach-churning ride.  It did lift up the mood of a rather lazy night.

Marx, Marcos and me before our epic ride!

I was a nervous wreck as we hesitantly approached the area.  After filling out the waiver, we were whisked to our seats.  Being lighter, me and Marx were assigned the outer ones while taller Marcos sat in the middle.

The moment I was strapped in, I did not let go of the handle bars.  My heart pumped and thumped wildly in my chest.  I think it wanted to jump out of my body. :D

The waiting time was the most agonizing part of the ride as we were clueless when it would start.  Cue?  When there is smoke and the lights started dancing, prepare your loudest screams for you will be in one hell of a ride. : ))

Not for the faint-hearted!  But for the most adventurous souls like me, trying G-max will definitely make your Boracay stay much more exciting!  I guess next time I will try it in the morning, that is if my stomach can take it. :D
